About This Blog
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) targets people who otherwise have no risk factors for heart disease. I survived two spontaneous coronary artery dissections (SCADs), a day apart, in late August 2018.
On the Saturday, I was rushed to the nearby tertiary hospital where I received two stents. The next day, the stents collapsed as the artery started to come apart in the other direction. I was rushed to surgery Sunday night and ended up with a full double bypass (CABG). I survived and have since been learning to live with Congestive Heart Failure.
I spent four days in a medically induced coma. When I came to, I began a new life, one with challenges, frustrations and, unexpectedly, some unforeseen joys.
This blog is about my life after SCAD, how it is has changed me and how I view the world around me. I live on Bell Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, with my loving, supportive family around me.
